About Us
The 1st Annual Every Woman in the World Conference was held in Whistler from July 29 to August 1, 2004. The 70 participants of Every Woman 2004 fostered the 'Every Woman' movement. We are all 'Every Woman' and we can be anything that we want to be.
Where did the idea come from?
The Every Woman in the World Conference evolved from founder Kerri Carlson's,
- Incredible network of talented women associates and friends
- Experience as a competitive athlete readjusting to healthy living after retiring from sport
Carlson has always been a big believer in healthy and active living. She began her own gymnastics career at age 6, and ten years later competed with Canada's highest-ranking 6th place World Gymnastics Championship Team in Stuttgart, Germany in 1989. She accepted a scholarship to Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and continued competing until she was 21 years old. She understands the readjustment period that every athlete has to face when retiring from a sport and she wanted to try to create a healthy atmosphere to celebrate the spirit of sport and share it with not only the gymnastics community but with other fabulous women as well, including her sister, Lynn Kanuka: Olympic Bronze Medalist, Mother of 4, and active-living enthusiast.
By being inspired every day by the women in their lives, Carlson and Kanuka felt that there was an opportunity to take advantage of each other's skill sets in an 'I teach you, you teach me atmosphere'. Having achieved personal fulfillment in active living, they decided to share their recipe for well-being by putting together a weekend of movement workshops to inspire other women to encapsulate healthy living.
Carlson and Kanuka found that The Every Woman in the World Conference was about a celebration of each woman's unique differences. And further, though the weekend was intended philosophically to 'have fun' and to learn new activities, the benefits of the weekend were much greater. Every Woman is about women coming together in a unified setting to become more than we already are. All the women involved in the conference inspire each other.

"Kerri is a high-energy, motivated person who wants everyone to be having as much fun in life as she is having in hers. She genuinely puts her whole heart and passion into everything she does.
I know this will be an amazing weekend for everyone who attends. If this conference were open to men, I would be attending."
